We are looking for an experienced coach to lead our new girls-only training programme starting in September.
Bromley Basketball Club is one of the oldest clubs in the country and runs a very popular and vibrant junior training programme from U10s to U17s alongside three NBL teams. Over 250 players train with us every week
While our training sessions are open to everyone, the overwhelming majority are boys. We are committed to providing inclusive access and believe dedicated girls sessions would encourage more girls to participate, enabling us to grow and expand participation significantly.
This is where you come in!
Our junior programme has expanded rapidly to its current size, and we have similar plans for the girls’ section. As a first step, we are launching girls-only training sessions next season, we have a court, we have the equipment and we have nearly 30 interested girls signed up and keen to play basketball.
Initially we plan to run two x 1.5 hour weekly sessions (back-to-back) for two age groups (years 5/6/7 and years 8/9/10), with big plans to grow participants over the first term. The sessions are provisionally booked for 1.30pm and 3pm on Sundays at Harris Girls Academy Bromley (Lennard Road, BR3 1QS), but for the right coach the day and times could be changed if not convenient.
You would be responsible for leading our girls-only training programme, be Basketball England Level 2 qualified coach, and would become that all important role-model for our players. Our sessions run during term time, with occasional extra sessions in the school holidays (same time and location).
This is an amazing opportunity to join a great coaching team, a very friendly and supportive club, and really make the girls-only training programme your own.
For more information or an informal chat, please contact our junior secretary Phil Gunner on philgunner@bromleybasketballclub.com, we would love to hear from you.
