A long and proud history…
Bromley Basketball Club was founded in 1956 (formerly Bromley and Old Bromleians Basketball Club), making the club one of the longest standing basketball clubs in the country.
The club was formed by a group of Old Bromleians from Bromley Grammar School (present day Ravensbourne School) who wished to continue playing and maintain social ties.
The club gained popularity shortly after its inception playing in the Kent County before moving to play in the South Thames Basketball League. As the years went by Bromley’s success in both leagues saw them make the jump in the late 70s to competing in the National League after winning the National 100 Cup, now referred to as the Founders Cup.

Bromley continued dominating in the Kent League, playing out of Walnuts Leisure Centre and marking its 50th anniversary with a Kent title in 2006 after defeating Dartford Sharks 76-50. However, it would be a while before Bromley would see silverware again with a number of influential players retiring after that season.

Since 2013, Bromley Basketball Club has been progressively changing with the introduction of the club nickname ‘Fury’. Giving the club a new edge and the start of a new era with new players and a more focussed regime.
The club will celebrate its 70th Anniversary (in June 2026), making it one of the oldest clubs in the country.
In 2018 the club launched a new junior programme, providing developmental sessions for children ages 12-16. In its first year, Bromley saw over 100 new members though its doors! The success of the programme was such that the club soon found themselves back in the National League with an U18 men’s team!

The junior programme has gone from strength to strength. The club now has developmental sessions for U10 to U16 alongside U14, U16 and U18 National League teams and U12 and U13 CVL teams. Shown here is our 2021/22 U18 3×3 team taking part in the Ann Pitman Memorial Tournament at London Thunder, where they reached the final.
For the 2025/26 season the Junior Section has found a new home at Bullers Wood School for Boys, where we train every weekday evening and play matches at the weekend.
The Senior teams play at Harris Academy Beckenham, with matches on Wednesday evenings.
The club has a bright future ahead with its priority to increase basketball participation levels throughout the London Borough of Bromley and surrounding areas. If you’d like to be part of that future, then sign up today!
